Thank you to all of the couple's that participated in the seminar, "The Joy of Touch in Marriage"  at the AEC Couple's Retreat One-Day Boot Camp!  You all were a great crowd and the feedback was "awesome".  Many of the comments received described our seminar as "Can't miss!", "Awesome!" and one attendee wrote, "I will now look at my wife differently." I want to extend a huge thank you to those who attended my seminar "The Joy of Touch in Marriage" on last Saturday night in Beltsville, MD.  I always enjoy observing the increase in affection within a couple as the seminar progresses.  Healthy relationships require work and commitment.  Some people say, "Oh, we're too old to do that or worry about that."  I often think, "Are you too old to be happy?"  Happiness, enjoyment, and mutual fulfillment can be achieved in any relationship with the right tools, attitudes, openness, honesty, and a willingness to be vulnerable.  How can you commit to improving your relationship with your partner today?

Many people have ideas for inventions and ask me for advice.  So, I wanted to briefly share my advice with you.  If you have an idea there are three things I recommend:  1)  View the Patent & Trademark Office website www.uspto.gov and order the patent information packet.   2)  Visit the local library to view the book, Patent It Yourself! (Nolo Press).  It is usually a reference book and the current year's edition cannot be checked out.  Check out a previous year's edition and study it intently!  3)  Use a patent agent (less expensive) or a patent attorney (able to argue your patent in front of the PTO).  Although I patented my idea pro se (myself), I would not recommend it.  It was very, very difficult.  But, if you are like me you will think, "You did it.  So, it can be done."  That's my advice!  Good luck to all of you with brilliant ideas inside of you, just waiting to be born.

Welcome!  To the many who were introduced to this wonderful world of touch through the article in the Columbia Union Visitor magazine.  Some of you may be wondering what is "the gift of touch" all about.  The essence of "the gift of touch" is not allowing busy schedules, electronic gadgets, modern equipment, and other man-made items to interfere with human touch and interaction.  It is important to remember there are people who die of loneliness, there are married people who are lonely in a marriage, there are single people who may not have had a warm caring hug or phone call in awhile, and last but not least, there are children who miss parents' affirming hug.  Choose to reach out in a positive way today to someone who may not have experienced the human touch and interaction you take for granted.

We all enjoy receiving compliments.  Think of an attribute, task, or unique characteristic your mate has or does and give a positive compliment.  Positive words go a long way!  Be intentional about trying this idea and notice the changes in your relationship.
